As far back as I can remember, color has fascinated me. The transformation of green foliage to Autumnal hues
seems like a slow dance, with intricate steps each a day long, displaying a new canvas every morning. Dusk's inky slow
transformation of the sky always leaves me in awe. I can see innumerable shades of each color, and trying to capture
them on paper or canvas never satisfied me. Glass and mirrored glass became my chosen medium, for I could attempt to capture
that awesome palette by using the reflection to intensify the colors.
Painting on glass requires a skill set not associated with other popular mediums. Glass has to lay perfectly flat and
level, raised outlines are sometimes used to contain the liquid paint, on the other hand, with nothing stopping the paint
flow, the entire work has to be finished in one go, as the paint gels rapidly. The results reward you for the effort put in.
I start from scratch, from basic pigments and dyes, developing my own shades as I do not want to limit myself to available
hues. Solvent evaporation rates have to be adjusted for various finishes and workable time limits. Large sizes are harder
to work upon, as to reach the middle becomes cumbersome. I started painting on glass about 20 years ago and developed severe
cervical spine problems, which finally required corrective surgery. I had to take a years break, and have now again started
painting, albeit, much more carefully! I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy creating it. Please email your
valuable comments. I would love hearing from you.
